Peter Baxter

Peter Baxter was involved with BBC Radio’s Test Match Special for over 40 years and produced the programme from 1973 to 2007, starting with commentators like John Arlott and Brian Johnston and finishing with those such as Henry Blofeld, Christopher Martin-Jenkins and Jonathan Agnew.

He has written or edited 18 books, including TEST MATCH SPECIAL - 50 NOT OUT, his career autobiography INSIDE THE BOX and his account of the troubles of broadcasting from overseas cricket tours Can Anyone Hear Me? - a frequently heard cry of desperation. After five years of taking a two-man show with Henry Blofeld round the country’s theatres which included three seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe, he brought out ON THE BOARDS WITH BLOWERS. The Observer described INSIDE THE BOX as ‘witty and engaging….a lovely insight into the nation’s most soothing institution.’
