Luke Gamble


Luke is the founder and Chief Executive of the charities, Worldwide Veterinary Service (www.wvs.org.uk) and Mission Rabies (www.missionrabies.com) and has raised over twelve million pounds to support his associated projects around the world.  His TV work includes starring in two primetime series of Vet Adventures (Sky One and Channel 5) and shows on National Geographic and Animal Planet. 

Luke was listed on the Independent on Sunday list of 101 inspirational Great Britons and is a past recipient of several awards in the international field of animal welfare. Awarded a DVM&S by Edinburgh University for pioneering leadership in the field of animal welfare, Luke is a visiting Professor to the Centre of Animal Welfare at the University of Winchester and has also been made a Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for meritorious contributions to the profession. Fellowship is the highest status of membership of the College.

Outside of the veterinary field, Luke is a 3rd dan black belt in Goju Ryu karate, an Ironman triathlete and has completed the Marathon des Sables – a 152-mile self-supported foot race across the Sahara Desert.

Luke’s first book THE VET: MY WILD AND WONDERFUL FRIENDS is both a moving and hilarious account of his experiences setting up as a new vet and was published by Two Roads in 2011. His follow-up THE VET: THE BIG WILD WORLD, was published a year later with more eye-watering tales of life as a country vet.

With his young fiction work, Luke brought his passion for animals and love of adventure to life with the THE SECRET ANIMAL SOCIETY which was published by Scholastic in 2021 and was followed by THE SECRET ANIMAL SOCIETY – THE FORGOTTEN PHOENIX in October 2022.
