The run up to LBF

Eleanor Ford at Daunts Marylebone

It’s mildly alarming that we are in March already, a quarter of the way through 2024 and London Book Fair, having scooched forward to an earlier date so as not to clash with Bologna Children’s Book Fair, is almost upon us.

There have been changes afoot at HHB Agency as our founder and glorious leader, Heather Holden-Brown, stepped down at the end of February.  Elly James is now Director, having worked alongside Heather for the best part of fifteen years.

It’s been an exciting time at the agency as regards book activity and announcements.  The lead up to the fair always prompts some ‘big reveals’ and this year we are sharing news about Mishal Husain’s family memoir BROKEN THREADS: My Family From Empire to Independence (in the Bookseller) which will be published by Fourth Estate in June and Rory Cellan Jones’s SOPHIE FROM ROMANIA: A Year of Hope and Love with a Rescue Dog which will be out in the Autumn, published by Square Peg.

Last week saw the UK publication of Ren Behan’s stunning THE SWEET POLISH KITCHEN which has featured in The Guardian, The Telegraph, OFM magazine, Waitrose Weekend, Olive magazine, Red and Stylist magazine amongst others.  Nigella Lawson highly praised the book, saying: ‘But truly, the delight The Sweet Polish Kitchen has been giving me is something no realistic person could really expect’.  You can find the full review at her Cookbook Corner.
