Tom Kevill-Davies’s two-and-a-half-year, pedal-powered journey from New York to Rio de Janeiro is testament to his sense of adventure and determination. As a 27-year-old devoted bike-rider and lover of food, in 2005 Tom quit his job in advertising and set off to explore the Americas through its diverse range of food. Having created his alter ego, The Hungry Cyclist, Tom travelled across the Land of the Free, guided by culinary ‘must taste’ recommendations from anyone who wrote to him on his website. The resulting THE HUNGRY CYCLIST: PEDALLING THE AMERICAS IN SEARCH OF THE PERFECT MEAL takes a heart-warming, humorous look at the hearts, minds and, most poignantly, stomachs of the people of America and was published by HarperCollins in 2009.

The accompanying double-page spread in the Independent on the day of publication attracted the immediate

attention of five TV producers and a television series is under discussion.
Tom is now busy plotting his next gastronomic quest and living in south London with four bicycles.
